Partnering our direct account converters in successful major project tenders

24 April 2012

With Avery Dennison really ramping up its activities to drive project business through its network of direct account converters, it is encouraging to receive positive confirmation that this strategy is absolutely in line with what our customers want – and is helping to drive growth in their business

Collaboration is the key
Leading self-adhesive film converters PCC, based in Bordesholm, in the north of Germany, have long been users of a wide variety of Avery Dennison products, for many different projects.   Examples are the Hobby Caravans liveries, using Avery 800 Premium Cast films;  digitally-printed bus advertising using Avery MPI films and their Avery DOL overlaminates;  and, most recently,  a challenging corporate identity branding project – read on for details -- using Avery Supreme Wrapping Film.

‘Focus and commitment’
PCC’s Managing Director Michael Hoppe says:   ‘Although we were at first a little sceptical with Avery Dennison’s latest activity in their direct accounts sales channel, we have been pleasantly surprised by the focus and commitment to this strategy, which has resulted in us winning new projects due directly to the close support we are receiving from Avery Dennison.’

Many of the company’s new projects have been achieved thanks to close collaboration between the PCC sales team and Avery Dennison, who are offering in-depth technical support and, of course, a range of appropriate services such as the Avery Colour Matching Service and the all-important ICS Warranty System.

Mr Hoppe continues:  ‘PCC were the first company in Europe to sign up for, and be audited for, the Specialist Converter program;  and since then we have also qualified as Installers.   Additionally, all our customer-facing staff and sub-contractors are required to study at the online Avery Graphics Academy. This gives us a real edge in the highly-competitive project business arena.’

Wrapping on-road Alpina racing cars
The exciting and challenging recently-secured new project mentioned briefly above has been the successfully application of 1000 ‘wraps’ on the on-road version of a GT3 racing car for Alpina, a company in the south of Germany producing tuned BMW vehicles.

Tony Harman, responsible for direct sales for Avery Dennison Graphics and Reflective Products in the German-speaking countries, tells the story:   ‘I was asked by PCC to conduct a discovery meeting at Alpina.   Initial contact had been established with PCC Sales Manager Michael Jürgens, who reported that, following numerous unsuccessful attempts, Alpina had still not been able to identify the right product for this prestige project.’  Alpina’s requirement was for around 1000 vehicles to be wrapped all round in the identical style to that of the winning GT racing model.    Following excellent results achieved with a custom colour match on our Avery Supreme Wrapping Film, in the extra-wide 1.52M rolls which enable the production of large vehicle wrapping decals for a superb finish and speedier application, production was confirmed and PCC began the task of applying the film.’
