Supercast rallying along in super cool look at -40°C

11 March 2011

A fund-raising car rally through Northern Europe put MPI 1005 with DOL 1030 gloss overlaminate through its paces as ultra-cold conditions and rough roads tested man and machine.

Starting on 8 January 2011, the Scan Covery Trail 2011: RIANT Challenge took competitors on a seven-day journey from the Netherlands through Scandinavia to North Cape, the most northerly part of Europe, before returning back to the Netherlands.

The rally’s objective was to raise funds for two charities working with children; St Duchenne which helps children with the muscle degenerative disease Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), and the cancer charity KWF.

Avery Dennison sponsored three cars from the Dutch-based multinational hotel chain Van der Valk, the cars being wrapped in MPI 1005 with DOL 1030 for outstanding conformability. The distinctive Van der Valk toucan logo was plotted out of 800 signage materials for a standout-look in the cold Northern-European winter.

In challenging weather conditions with temperatures plummeting to -40°C, the wrapped cars by Avery Dennison looked as good as new after the 7000km rally. In total 17 cars from 11 groups completed the event.
