A brilliant wrapping job contributes to the fight against cancer. By sponsoring a global charity, the Avery Graphics and Reflective Products Division (GRPD) has helped to increase publicity for an ambitious project.
The Alpe d’HuZes foundation is serious about wanting to help cancer patients. RME ELS Manager at Avery Dennison Jan Jansen explains: “In 2006, a couple of friends and I decided to raise funds for the fight against cancer. We thought that climbing the Alpe d’Huez in France would be a good way to achieve this. On 06/06/06 we climbed the mountain 6 times and raised 360,000 euros. In 2007, we climbed it 7 times, with 100 people taking part, and raised 1 million euros.

In 2008, we climbed the mountain 8 times to raise 3.6 million euros, and last year we made it to the top 9 times and raised 6 million euros. This year, we decided to go back to basics and climb just 6 times with the aim of raising 10 million euros.”
The success of projects that support the fight against cancer is entirely dependent upon its sponsors. In the case of Alpe d’HuZes, the list of sponsors includes top names such as Bill Gates and Lance Armstrong. Naturally, the Avery Graphics and Reflective Products Division is also keen to support this cause, which is why GRPD has sponsored one of the support vehicles.
Hans van den Berg, Customer Trainer & Applications Specialist with Avery Graphics™ comments: “The support vehicle was wrapped to highlight exactly what the team does. We used Avery® MPI 1004 EA for its ease of use during application, as well as Avery® DOL 1130 3D-Laminate because of its enhanced colours, high visibility and extended durability. We are proud that we had the opportunity to help support the world’s race against cancer.”
