Are you REACH compliant?

Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals (REACH) 1907/2006/EC became law on December 18, 2006, to streamline and improve the former legislative framework on chemicals of the European Union (EU). REACH places greater responsibility on industry to manage the risks that chemicals may pose to health and the environment. REACH applies to most common substances used in our day-to-day life.

From the very beginning, we anticipated the likely impact that the REACH regulation would have on our commercial operations and the production of our products. As a downstream user, Avery Dennison is collaborating with all its suppliers to ensure that all raw materials are REACH-compliant, in order to ensure no disruption to the manufacture and supply of our products.

During the REACH pre-registration period, June 1-December 1 2008, we actively approached our suppliers to obtain the appropriate information from them to ensure tha t the substances in the products we source from them would be pre-registered before the December 1, 2008 deadline. By November 28th 2008, all suppliers had confirmed that all substances affected by REACH and used in products supplied to Avery Dennison Graphics and Reflective Solutions were pre-registered. We continue to monitor the registration of those substances by our suppliers and will ensure that our intended use is reflected in the registration dossiers.

We have actively informed our customers of Avery Dennison manufactured articles which contain substances which are included on the candidate list published by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and we will remain to do so.

Avery Dennison Graphics and Reflective Solutions will continue to fulfill its SVHC notification requirements when an SVHC is present in concentrations above 0.1 % (w/w) and will continue to monitor for any addition to the SVHC list.
